A lot of Tyranid rumors have been flowing over the last month or so, and to get a full look at what has been said takes hours of labor to pull together. Zion over on Tabletop Wargaming has done just that. Here is the best compilation I have seen yet.

General Information

  • None

New Codex Rules

  • Altered FOC allows you to gain +1 Elite, +2 Troops, +1 Fast Attack +1 Heavy Support when you purchase a 3rd HQ Slot.
  • Only an HQ from the primary detachment may be chosen as the army's Warlord.
  • Two psychic powers lists: Devastation and Adaptation
  • Devastation's Primaris: Warp Blast; Adaptation's Primaris: Onslaught (similar to Battle Focus)
  • All Tyranid Psychic Powers may be used with 1 or 2 Warp Charges, using more Warp Charges increases the effect
  • Psychic ability is "a lot worse than it is now"
  • Hive Fleets now have different rules (think Chapter Tactics from Codex: Space Marines).
  • The allied detachment may be a different hive fleet (it doesn't count as a different Hive Fleet, just similar evolutionary strains).
  • Army wide FOC changes based on Hive Tyrant. Wings allow you to take Gargoyles as your compulsory Troops (max 2), Bonded Carapace lets Carnifexes be Elites and Heavy Supports (though there is a points cap on how much those Elite 'Fexes can cost). 
  • Warriors may be taken as Sergeant Style upgrades for Gaunts and Gargoyles. They get the same biomorphs as the rest of the unit and are not attached like Wolf Guard. 
  • Ravenous Advance: Units with this rule may run and assault in the same turn
  • The Ground Trembles: All Mounstrous creatures do D3 Hammer of Wrath hits.

Wargear/Biomorphs:

  • "Really cool" adapatations for Skyfire
  • Melee biomorphs contribute to models ranged ability
  • Ranged biomorphs boost model's melee abilities.
  • Lash Whip now give -4I
  • Bone Sword: "challenge weapon"
  • Implant Attack: "challenge weapon"
  • Regeneration: 5+ to regain wound at end of turn
  • Alpha Regeneration: 4+ to regain wound at end of turn

HQ

Models:
  • Tyanid Prime (Plastic Clamshell): Larger Warrior with a 4 pronged headcrest, additional shoulder plates that interlock down over part of the chest, armor is sharper and extends outward with slight upward curve. "Looks like you could impale a Guardsman on its back." Is on foot with Devourer and Scything Talons. Compatible with Warriors and Ravener kits for other weapon options.
  • Parasite of Mortrex (Clamshell package)
  • "Big Bug": Larger than Tervigon, stands on oval base, hunched over, but wider. $115 USD
  • Tyrant Guard: Share a kit with Hive Guard. come with full options for both units.

"Big Bug":

Hive Tyrant: 
  • +1BS, +1S, +1T, +1W, +1I, +1 A;

  • New Rules: Overlord: +1 to movement & charge distance for the army as long as he's alive; Shadow in the Warp: -4 to enemy psychic tests within 12"; Leaderless: Death of Hive Tyrant causes S4, AP- hits to all units within 12".
  • May take a second set of Scything Talons (free), replace Scything Talons with Heavy Venom Cannon, Stranglethorn Cannon or Twin-linked Death Spitters (S5, AP4, Assault 4)

  • Painful Loss: When model dies ALL models must take an unmodified leadership test (including those in Synapse), for each point they fail by is how many wounds the unit suffers.
Tyranid Prime:

  • Weapons and Biomorphs: Scything Talons, Rending Claws, Implant Attack
  • 6" Synapse (increased to 12" when in Apex Brood? Some differing rumors here).
  • Apex Brood: Prime may take a single retinue of "Apex" Warriors, Raveners or Shrikes. They recieve +1WS/+1BS/+1T and automatically pass Look out Sir! rolls while the Tyranid Prime is attached to the Apex Brood (Apex Brood is 5-10 points more expensive per model depending on the unit). 
  • Hunter-Killer: Enemy Characters cannot refused challenges from the Prime.
  • Shadow in the Warp
  • May take: Adrenal Glands, Toxin Sacs, Regeneration, Psychic Shield
  • Fluff now details that it's designed to be the perfect warrior, created to fit any battlefield and seek out and enemy commanders while supported by specially evolved broods.

  • Crawling Plague: Named Venomthrope. Finecast. Has 3 rows of vents on its back, has a longer tail that wraps around a piece of scenery. Mouth tendrils are shorter and spread open around the mouth. Looks like it's about to spit something, and has liquid dripping from it's maw.

Pyrovore:

Hive Guard: 
  • New weapon upgrade (available to a limited number of units) that grant Skyfire with an "enhanced ability" to ground FMCs.
Lictors: 
  • Small price bump, 
  • Gains new rule: "Surprise!" - All shots against Lictors the turn after they appear are snapshots. 
  • Deathleaper is now an upgrade character.
Ymgarl Genestealers: 
  • Gains Lictor's "Surprise!" rule, 
  • May purchase standard Genestealer biomorphs.
Erinye:
  • AA Variant Flying Monstrous Creature
  • Increased Swoop Speed
  • Grapples Flyers: Vector Strike, on a 4+ enemy flyer is dragged directly behind Erinye ended it's move, including a new facing
  • Can buy brood of Gargoyles to drop off during Movement phase on turn it doesn't Vector Strike
Zoanthropes:
  • Mastery Level 1
  • Devastation, Telepathy and Telekinesis Tables

Doom of Malan'tai: 
  • Has access to Devastation, Adaptation, Telepathy, Telekenisis, Biomancy and comes with Essence Leech and 3 powers
  • Consumes a wound every time it casts a power (except Essence Leech), but can keep casting as long as it doesn't Perils or end up down to 1 wound (this means a max of 9 powers a turn)
Venomthrope:
  • Venomthropes create 5+ cover
 Crawling Plague:
  • New Venomthrope character. 
  • Has Torrent Weapon: AP-, Poison 4+. On a 3+ place a marker anywhere on where you placed the template. On the following turn place the small end of the flamer template on the marker and aim it in any direction. On a 4+ the marker stays in play (test each turn). 
  • Gives Stealth to all models in 6", and has shrouding.
  • "It Lurks in the Mists": Instead of deploying on the board may be deployed at the start of any movement phase within 6" of any Venomthrope.
  • Is a mutation from Hive Fleet Karkinos who is specialized in toxic weaponry and Venomthropes.

Troops

Models: 
  • Termagant (recut for more options: Spike rifles and Strangleweb, curled tails, Rippers no longer on sprues)

Dedicated Transport

Models:
  • Mycetic Spore: Kit also makes Mycetic Hive Node model. Bell of Lost Souls said the following baout the new model:
  • -It is an enormous creature, with an immense abdomen/transport sac, that spills over the sides of a standard oval base.
    -It has tiny vestigial arms similar to a Zoanthropes, and a head with a tentacle ringed maw.
    -The giant abdomen/sac looks swollen, and has internal protuberances looking like Tyranid creatures are stretching the skin from within, about to rip their way out...
    -It has forward arms options that can be upgraded for various biomorph/weapon options.
    -The secondary creature build option replaces the abdomen/sac with something entirely different.
Rules:
Mycetic Spore:

  • Special Characters may join broods in pod
  • Monstrous Creature Broods may take Mycetic Spore Pods

Fast Attack

Models:
  • Harpy: Looks like image in codex, and is roughly the size of a Heldrake. "Dual-combo kit" with Erinye.

Harpy:

  • Flying Monstrous Creature, 
  • Vector Strike may either useSpore Min Cyst to create blasts along the path or Sonic Screech to half Initiative and causes a pinning test.
  • May purchase additional mines. 
  • Stranglethorn Cannon may purchase new upgrades. 
  • Designed to kill infantry hordes and provide support with its specialized Vector Strike
  • Can buy brood of Gargoyles to drop off during Movement phase on turn it doesn't Vector Strike
Raveners:
  •  Red Terror is an upgrade character


Heavy Support

Models:
  • None.

Rules: 
Carnifex: 

  • Base cost the same
  • Upgrades "much, much" cheaper
  • Upgrades have a number of "may only purchase 1"
  • Tusked: Hammer of Wrath gains an AP value
  • Thornback: Increases the number of Hammer of Wrath hits
  • Enhanced Senses: Night Fighting
  • Tail Scythe and Tail Mace: 1 hit to all models in base to base contact at Initiative 1, with different stats
  • Living Battering Ram: Changed to allow Carnifex to assault contents of a building/transport if it was destroyed by the Carnifex's charge on a 4+. Roll once per brood.
  • Old One Eye is an upgrade character
  • All the options in the box are usable again
Tyrannofex: 
  • Points reduction.
